Superfoods for the Skin

When it comes to your skin, researchers are finding it increasingly clear that what you eat can significantly affect your skin's health.

Eating foods high in omegas 3's, beta carotene, selenium and vitamins C, E & B can protect skin cells from damage and ultimately help you achieve a radiant glow.

Certified Nutritionist and Health Coach Mikhaila Todd recommends adding these foods to your shopping list:

Berries

Berries are packed full of antioxidants and protect your skin against skin-damaging free radicals. Neutralising their impact by consuming antioxidants is vital for protecting your skin. Antioxidants can also brighten skin, calm irritation, and even work to smooth fine lines. They also contain significant amounts of the skin-friendly element: zinc.

Ginger

Ginger contains more than 40 different antioxidants that are regarded to fight ageing signs. Ginger also assists the skin by flushing out toxins and encouraging blood circulation.

Nuts & Seeds

Nuts provide protein, minerals, essential fatty acids, fibre and are packed with vitamin E, all of which helps protect our body's cells and will give your skin a healthy glow.

Chickpeas

Chickpeas are helpful for collagen synthesis because they are high in zinc, vitamin A (as beta-carotene) and vitamin C.

Leafy Greens

Leafy greens such as kale & spinach are packed with beta carotene and vitamin C which are integral for protecting and hydrating your skin. They are also vital for collagen production.

Avocado

The high Omega 3 content delivers essential fatty acids to the skin, which act as a natural moisturiser, improving elasticity and keeping it soft and supple.
